Sounds of the Tokyo Metro

Can it really be a couple of years since we visited friends in Tokyo? In a city where everyone has a mobile phone, phones aren’t even allowed on the metro — instead, the stations have ring-tones. I’ve picked out five of my favourites:

  1. catchy
  2. uplifting
  3. wistful
  4. rousing
  5. nyman-lite

Apparently, they’re ambient signifiers.
